Exercise= 1 mile walk
Yesterday was a very long day. It started with a visit to the neurologist with my 16 year-old DS#2. This doctor only sees adults, but the nurse in our primary physician's office managed to get us an appointment since the neurologist we've been seeing has been basically worthless. Imagine our surprise when the first thing he did was ask what had been going on and actually listened to every detail and asked questions! Unbelievable!!! LOL! And then to top it all off he even examined him! Quite different from our experience with neurologist #1!
So on Monday DS#2 goes for an MRA to see if he has an aneurysm. Then on Thursday he goes for an EEG to see if the numbness he's had in his face and neck for over a year since the first hemiplegic migraine was from a stroke during the migraine. Finally a doctor willing to do something!
After that we went and got some breakfast because he was going to miss lunch since I needed to take him straight to Vo-Tech for his auto mechanics classes. After taking him to school I came home for 20 minutes before heading back out with my mom to finish up Christmas shopping and get groceries.
All I have left to do for Christmas is get a gift certificate for my aunt and a gift for one of my co-workers. Then I am totally done.
I woke up today to really swollen hands. They are even worse than yesterday. I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. I am hoping it is simply that my blood pressure medicine needs to be changed and include a diuretic.

I sent you either a PM or an email the day I got it. You didn't get that???
Yes, it came and I filled in my friend's name and delivered it that same day. She was so touched. She had tears in her eyes as she thanked me and asked me to let everyone know how very much she appreciated it.
Maybe she's holding onto it for Christmas shopping?

It has been a very long and worrisome year. The first hemiplegic migraine happened in August 2005 and the 2nd happened 6 days later. With both he was totally paralyzed down the entire left side of his body for almost 2 hours.
I have learned quite a bit about hemiplegic migraines since and it was totally frustrating to get a neurologist that wouldn't listen and just kept raising the dosage of medicine that only made DS#2 feel doped up all day and barely able to function. I finally made the decision to take him off of it myself when he came home one day upset because he couldn't understand the math class that day at all. They were not doing anything new, his best subject is math, and he has a high enough IQ that he's in the enrichment program, so it wasn't that the math was beyond his abilities. And the medicine gave him a constant headache. This doctor agreed with my decision.

This has to have been so stressful on you, mom. I cant imagine having a child go through it.
I hope the new doctor is able to determine whats up and treat it accordingly!! Best of luck.
